Hello

This is my about page. My name is Joshua Bell, I am a part one graduate from the university of Portsmouth and also a local. I am keen to pursue a career in architecture and grow to develop my skills. Here you will find all information about me. Scroll to the bottom to get an insight to who I really am my ambitions, hobbies and what I want from life.
About Me
I am Joshua Bell, an ambitious architectural graduate with a passion for creating spaces that harmonize with their environment and provoke thought. My journey into architecture began with a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, inspired by witnessing my father build our family home. That formative experience ignited my curiosity, ultimately shaping my approach to design and problem-solving.
Education and Achievements
My academic journey reflects both dedication and versatility. At Portsmouth College, I excelled in Architecture, earning an A grade and receiving the 2018 award for “Imaginative Design and Outstanding Construction of a Final 3D Design.” Alongside this, I authored a printed research book on the modern house, referencing architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright.
I graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. My studies encompassed a wide range of architectural fundamentals, including sustainability, construction, CAD, and contemporary ideas. I thrived in exploring innovative strategies for merging traditional aesthetics with sustainable design, driven by the belief that architecture can shape communities and improve lives.
Professional Experience
Currently, I am a subcontractor with ANR Site Services, specializing in the installation of modular structures. My work spans residential complexes, educational buildings, and military projects. I am proficient in assembling and constructing modular elements, including structural steel frameworks, stair cores, and internal fittings. Navigating architectural drawings with precision, I ensure the seamless integration of design and construction. This role has honed my practical expertise and adaptability on-site, supported by CSCS certification and health and safety training.
Design Philosophy
My design ethos is simple yet profound: architecture should harmonize with its surroundings, harness natural light, frame views, and inspire curiosity. I am particularly drawn to projects that combine historic charm with modern innovation, enhancing communities and everyday experiences. A key influence is Bjarke Ingels’ Copenhill project, which exemplifies the power of design to merge functionality with recreation and beauty.
Skills Beyond Architecture
My passion for design is complemented by entrepreneurial experience gained through the Business Enterprise Academy. I developed skills in professional pitching, social media marketing, and business modeling. Additionally, my involvement with the National Citizenship Service strengthened my ability to work collaboratively, contribute creatively, and give back to the community.
Closing
Within this portfolio, you’ll find a collection of my work—university projects, personal explorations, and real-world applications—all reflecting my creativity, versatility, and commitment to meaningful design. I am eager to contribute fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to an architectural firm that shares my vision for shaping the world, one building at a time.

More about me...

I grew up in Portsmouth, spending my childhood in the same home until I left for university. My father owned a property with a large driveway, a spacious garden, and a garage where he ran his business. During my university years, he decided to build a new house where the driveway once stood.
Watching this house take shape—from the ground up—was a transformative experience for me. It was my first real exposure to the construction process, and it sparked a deep fascination with how ideas are translated into physical structures.
As a student, I was naturally drawn to art and excelled at it, which only strengthened my passion for design. Over time, this combination of creativity and hands-on exposure to building evolved into a love for architecture and engineering.
(I’ve included some of my artwork below to give you a glimpse into my creative journey.)
