CONSTRUCTION KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

SUBCONTRACTOR MODULAR ENGINEER
As a self-employed modular engineer under ANR Site Services, I specialise in the installation and fit-out of modular buildings, working on projects from the structural assembly phase to the final finish. My role has allowed me to develop a comprehensive understanding of building regulations, construction methods, and materials, as well as the ability to interpret and implement technical drawings in
real-world scenarios.
Key Achievements and Contributions
Over the course of my work with ANR Site Services, I have contributed to the successful delivery of over 20 modular building projects across various sectors, including commercial buildings, educational facilities, and social housing. My hands-on experience in modular construction has honed my ability to manage the intricate processes of installation, coordination, and finishing with precision and efficiency.
Core Responsibilities
1. Unit Placement & Alignment
• Coordinated the safe offloading and precise positioning of modular units onto prepared foundations using cranes.
• Collaborated closely with crane operators, slingers, and the team to ensure accurate placement, stability, and alignment in accordance with technical drawings.
2. Structural Assembly
• Bolted and secured modular units sequentially to ensure alignment and structural integrity, maintaining a focus on safety and quality control.
3. Roof & Bay Joint Sealing
• Managed the entire process of sealing and insulating roof and bay joints, progressing through waterproofing, plaster-boarding, flooring, and final detailing such as doors, skirting, and architraves.
4. Exterior Fireproofing & Cladding
• Applied fireproofing materials, EPS insulation, and external cladding to bay joints, adhering to strict safety standards and regulations.
5. Roof & Apex Installation
• For residential housing projects, installed fireproofing, waterproofing (Cembrit), and EPS insulation to roof frames and apex structures.
6. Foundation Fixing
• Secured modular units to foundations using Cemfix bolts, ensuring long-term stability and compliance with safety standards.
Architectural Coordination and Technical Drawings
Beyond installation, my role involved interpreting and explaining architectural and technical drawings to the team, ensuring construction accuracy and adherence to design intent. My architectural knowledge allowed me to:
• Anticipate and resolve on-site challenges by adapting designs to evolving conditions.
• Collaborate with architects to implement necessary changes during construction, contributing ideas that were later formalised in revised drawings.
• Provide input to maintain alignment between technical documentation and on-site practices.
How This Experience Benefits My Architectural Practice
This extensive hands-on experience in modular construction has greatly enhanced my architectural expertise by deepening my understanding of:
• Construction methods and materials, particularly within modular design.
• On-site coordination and teamwork, ensuring seamless communication between stakeholders.
• Technical drawing interpretation, translating complex architectural details into precise execution on-site.
Through my role, I have developed a unique perspective that bridges architectural design and construction, making me well-equipped to contribute to an architectural firm with practical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
